Sons of Ursidae Menus
I've applied "position: fixed;" to the menu div. This works just fine in Opera 9.24, IE7, IE6, Safari 3.0, but fails in Firefox 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0.
What you should see if your using firefox is some distortion of the content in the background and resizing of the menu item that contain nested ul's. The distortion of background content seems to be worse when the menu is vertical.

You can see this same Firefox bug even better in the Son of Suckerfish Menu that I'm using on this site itself. Click on any of the style sheets available (in the menu to the left under styles). The style "Spring" which is actually a Son of Ursidae Menu also demonstrates the same distortion of background content and resizing of top level menu item with nested items when you mouseover the link.
